Domaine Helena, Estate Cabernet Sauvignon: Lake County 2022
Tasting Notes from Wine Enthusiast (Tonya Pitts 12/31/24):
This wine is rich, concentrated, with aromas of olallie berry, blueberry, dried herbs, tomato leaf, and bittersweet chocolate on the nose. The flavors on the palate are boysenberry, pomegranate-cranberry, cardamom, lime zest cream, dried chicory, and a supple finish.
About the winery:
Growing up in the renowned Alsace wine region of France, André Guéziec’s journey led him from his childhood roots to owning and operating Domaine Helena in Lake County, California. Since acquiring the Domaine in 2020, he has relied upon his French roots to influence the farming operations, maintenance and winemaking.
Domaine Helena has consequently undertaken an Organic transition, and wines are trending towards less alcohol in the French style, so that they can be better enjoyed in a meal amongst family and friends and paired with varied favorite dishes.
