Domaine de Leyre-Loup, Fleurie, 2022
Winemaker Jaques Lanson crafts this elegant and silky expression of cru Beaujolaise from 3 hectares of vine spread over two lieu-dits - Poncié and Les Combes. Both sites are steep and primarily south facing, exposing the 40+ year old vines to just the right amount of sun and wind to achieve proper ripeness.
In the vineyard, sustainable farming practices are used and the domaine has been awarded both the Terra Vitis and High Environmental Value certifications. After being hand harvested the grapes go through partial destemming and semi-carbonic maceration with only native yeasts at low temperatures in stainless steel vats. The results are a beautiful garnet colored elixir that exudes aromas of violet and licorice while tasting of vivid red berry fruit with pleasant acidity.
