Visages de Loire: François-Xavier Barc
A native of the Loire Valley, François-Xavier Barc, studied winemaking in Chinon and trained in Bordeaux (Saint-Emilion), before launching Complices de Loire in 2010. It was always his dream to be based in the area where he grew up, surrounded by producers who share the same philosophy for creating the sort of fresh wines that let the fruit of the particular plot express itself.
Complices de Loire produces a variety of plot-based cuvées from around the Loire including such famous appellations as Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Touraine, Saumur, Chinon and Vouvray. Sustainable or organic farming methods are used in the vineyards and the wines are crafted to be easily approachable and fun to drink.
Visages de Loire is a new brand that François has created to partner with Nice Find & Co as the sole California importer of his crisp Vouvray “Les Arpents.” This limited production bottling uses certified organic chenin blanc farmed on a 2ha plot of limestone dominated soil. Native yeast is used during fermentation and the resulting elixir is pure pleasure with just the right balance of citrusy fruit and stoney salinity.
